In the early years, vegetarian was only for Buddhism. They eat vegetable because they were restricted to killing animals even an ant - one of the five precepts of the Buddha.
Nowadays, people found that vegetarian diet is not only good for health but also good for their mind. Because of the health benefits, there are more and more Vietnamese people cut down meat in their daily meal. Many restaurants are also built up to serve their need.
