A wise traveler would have a haircut in Asia! Why? It’s incredibly cheap and the results may go beyond your expectation. In Vietnam, it costs only 80.000VND (about $3.5) for the gentlemen with a combo of washing, cutting and hair styling. As a lady, I often spend a little bit more to do my hair but you know… girls are way more complicated than guys and sometimes “Good hair days make me feel like I can rule the world!”.
Every time I went back to Ho Chi Minh City, I would visit my favorite hair salon and my boyfriend also wouldn’t miss his chance to get a cheap haircut which he can never have in the Netherlands. Let me share with you this two places where we had amazing experiences with the hairdressers!
The name of this place may get you confused but it’s actually a famous barber shop in town which offers a really good price. If you’re an on-budget traveler or an expat living in Ho Chi Minh City, then Paris Hair Salon would be a perfect option for a haircut.
This shop gives you more than just a haircut. My boyfriend chose a combo which comprises 6 steps: washing, hairstyle consulting, cutting, hair washing again, facial massage, and finally hairstyling. He loved this place because of the insanely low price (80.000VND for everything ~ about $3.5). Also, the barber was so meticulous with his hair and his skin. I’ve brought him to Paris Hair Salon 3 times and he confirmed that their services were excellent every single time.

As I know, the owner of this hair salon is a Korean guy but I never met him. You can request him to do your hair at a higher price, but I was really happy with the Vietnamese hairdressers. I did my hair at this place once or twice a year since I don’t live in Vietnam, but every time I met a new hairstylist and new staff here. One great thing I recognized that they were all dedicated hairdressers who gave me the best advice for my hair instead of trying to sell.
In recent years, I found myself look best with the wavy red hair so I picked this style to feel more pretty and confident. Perhaps after a few years, I would cut my hair short till the shoulders for a refreshing look hihi!
Before and after getting my hair done
I paid 1.000.000VND (about $42) to make my hair wavy, and 900.000VND (about $38) to dye my hair red. In Ho Chi Minh City, you can find some cheaper hair salons but I prefer a clean and bright place like this one.
Two girls in Star Hair could speak English very well. They even brought me a cup of cold water or Vietnamese coffee while I was waiting until my turn. After the first time doing my hair here, they gave me a 10% discount card for the next time. Strongly recommend this place because of the good service and friendly attitude of the staff!!!
